2008-04-10 12:12 GMT
The site had a major upgrade and a brand new theme was installed. This took longer than we expected. There is a new Forums section that was activated.
A new word processor was introduced.
Many new features will be added as we go on.
The site now functions much faster.

Ranking polls were removed because of a bug in the feature.
News Aggregator removed - not used and unlikely to be useful.
Features to add images (photos) to posts and comments introduced for registered supporters on a trial basis. Supporters are reminded to respect privacy of individuals if posting photos of others.
A few extra buttons added to the 'word processor' feature for posting content.
New site theme introduced. This has led to much clearer layout of the site and easier on the eyes. Still needs some tweaking but we'll get there.

A news aggregator is being set up. A the moment this links the latest news from the Trinidad Express. For a limited time unregistered supporters may use it.
What this does is pull all the latest news from various other sites. So we don't have to go clicking around the T&T Express site to pick out the main headlines - you get it right here.
Accessing the news aggregator is easy. Look for the 'News Aggregator' link in the left column. Click on it. That's it really. How easy is that? Very.

A 'subscription' module was installed. This means that our registered supporters can 'subscribe' to a topic line or group of comments and receive email updates to their registered email addresses about new content. Subscribing does not mean you have to pay money. Everything at this site is free.

A new word processor style input module was installed. This will allow contributors to format their text in bold, underlined or coloured text etc using icons or keyboard shortcuts.
For example to bold press CTRL and tap 'B' on keyboard: see what happens. To underline: CTRL and 'U': see what happens. There are many more features to be discovered.
There is even a Spell Checker for those who install a free spell checker at www.iespell.com (selecting text and hitting CTRL + K allows for entry of hyperlinks).
2007-02-21 19:08 Plans for further development of the site.
The layout of the site is very fluid and may change several times over the next few months. The most important thing about this website is that it is fully interactive.
Unlike some websites where you click on but you have no say in what's up there, this one you can have a say. You can actually change the content. Hold on. And you don't need to be a website builder to do so.
We actually need feedback from our supporters on what they want at the site in terms of features. With that knowledge we can be more certain how to best shape the site.
So, the site is therefore not a static thing. It becomes 'plastic' - moving in a direction that suits supporters. Feedback can be given my registering with us and clicking on a 'Contact Admin' button visible to registered supporters.
2007-02-19 16:31 GMT A star-rating system was implemented where viewers can rate certain items posted at the site. 2007-02-18 20:23GMT Two new powerful features added.
1. Site search
2. 'Books' feature - this allows our supporters to work collaboratively on various projects. This will be useful if we want to work on gathering evidence on certain topics. People in different parts of the country or the world can share parts of a project. At the moment we are using it to shape our Newsletter - in the public domain. This feature also allows us to work privately out of view of the public and present material when a project is complete. A demo version of the electoronic newletter is being constructed.

Freedom Chambers is delighted that so many people have given support to the 'journey' to freedom. Many have joined us in the last few days since the site was started.
The basic layout of the website is being tweaked daily to make it as readable as possible. We haven't got everything 100% right but we are working on some minor display issues eg. categories appearing empty. At this time the Forums area is being worked on. There are plans in place to improve the site, and as always we welcome your suggestions.
So there will be many changes over the next few months. These will take place gradually. In addition there is a cutting-edge facility to create electronic newsletters that can contain voice and video. These can be easily distributable by email or downloaded for offline browsing. The text based parts of the newsletter will be printable.
Those wishing to contribute to this effort should contact site admin directly from your 'contact admin' link. It's open country at the moment. It is encouraging that some have made some very good comments and observations. We need more like that. Get others involved. Thanks to all.
